“It’s a great thrill to be a part of Whispering Trees. I enjoyed writing for the voice, for a sound design that didn’t yet exist, rather than writing for the page. Knowing Solange and Damian would use the spoken words in a work of art made me see my poems as a contribution, rather than the finished piece; as they weren’t conceived in isolation, I don’t think they should stand alone.
I’d like to say how grateful I am to Oscar and Coco, who joined me to read, ‘Welcome, or, The Man With The Earlobe’. They added a dimension, or a quality, that wouldn’t have been possible without their participation. And, just as importantly, they were fun (and professional) to work with.”
